Hello and welcome! Thank you for stopping by. This is an introduction to tell you a little about what I do.
As a freelance copywriter, I spend each day in a cozy office in a farmhouse not far from the Chesapeake Bay. It’s quiet here – the perfect atmosphere for pondering the complexities of life and thinking about my projects.
I’m a morning person. That’s when I have the most energy and am most productive. I find that exercising stimulates my brain and generates new ideas so I incorporate that into my routine. My FitBit reminds me to get up and move each hour. I also receive (and at least skim) quite a few daily newsletters. Reading them keeps me up to date and often inspires content based on current events.
I’m also a lifelong learner. (I love that term! It was used frequently by the Vistage Chairs that I worked with a while back.) I take professional development courses on a variety of subjects and I’m always reading at least two books at a time. Most titles on my reading list are memoirs and biographies because I’m fascinated by stories about people who have overcome challenges and become very successful.
What do I write? Well, the first thing (and often the last thing) I write is a journal entry. Getting those thoughts out of my head and organized into sentences is a necessity. I also write lists. Lots of them. “To Do” lists, lists of ideas for the tickler file, gift lists, grocery lists and of course, a bucket list. It’s rare that I don’t have a notebook (and a couple of pens) with me – in my bag, in the car, in my pocket – they’re everywhere!
As for what my clients request and require … I produce words to help grow their businesses. That takes many forms: social media content, newsletters, press releases, LinkedIn profiles, articles and more. I write whatever entrepreneurs, marketing managers and others need to market their companies. For non-profit organizations, I write grant applications. Plus, I help people get the jobs they desire by creating resumes that get noticed And, I work with authors who want to self-publish and sell more books.
To get all this done, I need tea: hot tea, iced tea, room-temperature tea, or flavored tea (always unsweetened and preferably strong). I tell myself that tea has healing properties and I hope that’s true. I also require heat. I cannot function without warmth so my personal ceramic space heater is often humming at my feet. When a deadline is looming, there will be snacks very close by. Pretzels seem to be what I reach for most – they have a satisfying crunch!
When my work is done, you’ll most likely find me in the kitchen. It’s fun to try different recipes and produce healthy meals, plus exploring new things makes life interesting. I play Words with Friends while watching television, waiting for the mechanic to finish changing the oil in the car, or whenever there is nothing else going on.
The final thing you need to know about me is that I’m open to new projects. Reach out and let’s talk about how my words can promote you and your business. What can I write for you today?
